turban headwrap DIY with satin lining
Welcome to our DIY guide on creating a fabulous satin-lined turban headwrap! Whether you're looking to elevate your fashion game or protect your hair with style, these head wraps are the perfect accessory for any outfit. I will walk you through the step-by-step process of crafting your own turban headwrap, complete with a satin lining that will keep your locks looking gorgeous. Let get started!
Tools you’ll need is
Knit Fabric ( I will using stretch velvet)
Satin for lining ( Can be stretch or non stretch)
3/8 Elastic (Est 20”)
Sewing machine
Scissors
Loop Turner ( if you choose)
Seam ripper

You’ll need to cut 2 self knit fabric , 2 lining, 1 Rectangle 6 1/2” wide by 60”. For the rectangle ensure the if your fabric isn’t a 4 way stretch that the stretch is going along the length of the rectangle.
Stitch with 1/2 seams allowance along the lining, leave a 2” opening. Stitch the self with 1/2” seam allowance with a 2 1/2” opening that is about 1” from the edge.
Fold the rectangle in half (right side together) and sew along none folded edge. Then use a loop turner or whatever tool of you choose. And turn it right side out.
For the wrap, twist the ends of the rectangle so that there is some twist already in the tie before attaching to the self from step 1.
Take the edge of the twisted tie and pin both edge together so that it is flat. Then insert in the opening at the edge of the self. The continue the stitch line, sewing through all the layers.
Triple check the tie is securely inside the seam. Trim any excess fullness at the seam.
Take your self and lining pieces and fold them in half to make the center front and center back.
Take your lining, put the right side of the lining to the right side of the self. Pinning together the center front, center back and both side seams. Ensure the tie is tucked inside the two layers
Take you elastic and sew it together making it a circle. Fold your elastic in half and make a mark. Then put both marks together and mark the fold of the other two sides. You will ends up with 4 marks.
Take the elastic circle and pin at the mark at center front, center back, and both side seam.
Then stitch at the center of the elastic, ensure to stretch as you sew so the elastic is flat and is catching all layers.
Once secure, there should be a hole in the lining seam. Pull the fabric right side of the hole until the entire the turban is right side out. Tuck the lining inside and test trying it on.
Top stitch the hole in the lining closed. And tuck the lining inside of the self so that it’s no longer visible.
